Anxiety Answers & Help

Answers to all your questions about anxiety and panic attacks

I get weird headaches that just make me feel out of it, i get random chest pain, my face gets hot, just things that make me feel weird… nothing gets worse, it kind of just sits there but this has been going on for about a year and a half and sometimes its worse than other times… what the heck is this??

It could be alot of things, maybe there is something going on in your life thats also contributing to anxiety? Ive got it a few times but I was also dizy, could not focus properly and I felt like I was about to pass out.

If you are real concerned I would seek advice of a Medical Professional.

What are symptoms of anxiety?

Posted on: 18, Nov

Besides the obvious ones?

I have been in a very stressful situation dealing with hypochondria and havin anxiety attacks(I was on medicine for it for a while, but i’m out now)

Sometimes when I stand up,I will get extremely lightheaded, and sometimes when i am just sitting down.

When I drive a truck for too long I get homesick and I get symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Can my psychiatrist help by giving me anti depressants and anxiety medications?

Ever consider a change in jobs? Sometimes usually too late in life that the work we were doing was not all that fulfilling.
You can take medication for your problem but it will only be a band aid, the problem will still be there,
I used to work heavy construction installing three story printing presses, sometimes it would keep me away from home months on end, nine months being the longest.
At first the job was quite challanging but as time went on I started getting anxious and bummed out.
My final trip on the road was concord california, where I suffered a severe heart attack with an anurism on the back side of my heart I was given last rights because only one in one hundred survive, I was the luckey one.
My problem was that I didn’t smell the roses till it was too late. so reconsider your situation and see if you can come up with something better, the economy is in the pits right now so new jobs may be hard to find.

I dont go into heavy breaking or freakout on the out side. Its something that takes place inside my mind. Does that make sense? Everything is all paranoid, even the sound of a car driving down the road outside, and I dont want to move, its hard for me to move around. The only thing that calms me is laying down in my bed and taking a nap. I dont even know if there is a pill i can take that will help this? Could this also be a after affect of another drug i am taking?? Actually i feel like a zombie when i am in this state. I had this incidence while driving in a car last week, and now i afraid to go visit my mom who lives a couple of hours away!

Yeah that is anxiety. I suffered from it for six years. The particular thing you are feeling, where you feel paranoid and like a zombie is called a dissociative episode. Don’t fret about it too much, that only makes it worse. You can overcome these episodes completely, I did. Write me any time if you need advice on this.

I went to see my Dr yesterday who has said she is 99% convinced my health situation is anxiety! I have been ill for 7 weeks, it started with a flu type virus along with abdominal pain, noticiable nodes in my groin area, odd cold running water sensations in my limbs, pins and needles, pressure feelings under my arms, very cold hands and feet, areas of my feet underneath sometimes feel numb. Even though my flu type symptoms have gone I have symptoms left e.g. pins and needles in my hands/arms/feet and legs almost constantly which feel numbish. Constant lightheadedness and the feeling of not being real, reactions to lights either bright or dim. I have been terrified that I am seriously ill with either some sort of cancer or MS!and have started thinking about how I will feel when I am told I have something and how I will manage to cope with it! My doc has done blood tests, CBC, kidney, liver functions, inflammation, diabetes, throid etc and is now sending me to a GP at the hosp!Anxiety?

You are descibing the classic physical symptoms of anxiety. That does not mean that you are making these symptoms up, they are a very real effect of a very real problem. Wether or not you have anything more serious you need to work on your anxiety levels if you want to be as healthy as you can. Try something like a Yoga class or Tai Chi.

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this strange herb called “St John’s Wort” - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that “learned behavior” in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….
