Im getting this poping pinching pain in my chest area. I got little sleep last night and had a arguement today

Anxiety is due to fear. To overcome fear you have to identify what you are afraid of and then face it . The difficulty may be in identifying it as fears my be subconscious. I also think you are a little obsessed with your health maybe even somewhat a hypochondriac. I especially think this is true if you are young. Fear of dying from ill health may be the fear you have to overcome. If your anxiety persists see a gp physician for possible recommendation to a psychologist or psychiatrist.A panic attack can have symptoms which can be confused with a heart attack.

I am constantly worried, stressed, or anxious about something. I know it’s not normal… I have a good life but I’m not happy with it. I have had horrible migraines for almost a year and I think it’s caused by anxiety. Can anyone recommend something to help me?

I would recommend first going to see your doctor for a complete physical and blood work, make sure they check your thyroid levels, because it can cause anxiety.

If your doctor gives you a clean bill of health, go seek the help of a psychiatrist asap, so you can feel “normal” again and you stop your misery.

best of luck

When I drive a truck for too long I get homesick and I get symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Can my psychiatrist help by giving me anti depressants and anxiety medications?

Ever consider a change in jobs? Sometimes usually too late in life that the work we were doing was not all that fulfilling.
You can take medication for your problem but it will only be a band aid, the problem will still be there,
I used to work heavy construction installing three story printing presses, sometimes it would keep me away from home months on end, nine months being the longest.
At first the job was quite challanging but as time went on I started getting anxious and bummed out.
My final trip on the road was concord california, where I suffered a severe heart attack with an anurism on the back side of my heart I was given last rights because only one in one hundred survive, I was the luckey one.
My problem was that I didn’t smell the roses till it was too late. so reconsider your situation and see if you can come up with something better, the economy is in the pits right now so new jobs may be hard to find.

what causes anxiety attacks?

Posted on: 10, Nov

if stress, my friend claims she is under no stress, life is good she says. But she keeps on having these anxiety attacks, any idea what might be causing them other then stress?

She may not be feeling stressed but something is bothering her. It could be a deep-rooted fear that is tucked away in her subconscious. When it suddenly surfaces, and it does that unexpectedly, you have a panic attack. Rapid heartbeat, shaking, shortness of breath all within a few seconds. The fear frightens you because it is sudden, from out of nowhere. You think you are having a heart attack but you are not. Your friend needs to see a psychiatrist. They specialize in this disorder and can help her. Good luck.

Curious? I am on Effexor and just feel like the anxiety is not subsiding. My Dr and I talked today and she said to give it a little more time and that we would add something else later on. I want to be educated on my options. Any suggestions on additions?

I am also going to see a psych. to just talk things out…

Please only serious answer. Thanks in advance!

There is a great web site at:
http://www.helpguide.org/mental/anxiety_medication_drugs_treatment.htm

It discusses all the pros and cons of the various classes of meds used for anxiety. I won't make a recommendation because my cocktail is set up for depression, DID and anxiety/PTSD and includes five different meds including atypical antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, and an atypical antipsychotic. In addition, what works for one person may not work for someone else.

I do agree with the poster who suggested that your doctor who prescribes the meds should probably be a psychiatrist — not a primary care doc — once they get into mixing more than a couple meds — and some primary care docs don't even like to mix two meds. Also, be aware it does take time for meds to work — they have to build up to therapeutic levels within your body before they do anything — unlike antibiotics which we are all used to taking for a couple days and feeling better.

Hope the web site gives you the info you need to be educated when you talk to your doctor.

I have tried almost everything there is to try - homeopathy, hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT, vitamins, diet, exercise to list but afew.
Serious answers only please, I really am looking for quality advice.
I saw a psychiatric nurse today who has arranged for me to see a psychiatrist soon. I'm just wondering what to expect as I'm really scared - hence my question.

one thing you need to know is that you are not alone, in your depression or trying to resolve it. you need to have someone you can talk to, a friend, pastor, or anyone that you can completely trust with your feeling. i have found that i get depressed when things are really stressful for me and i feel overloaded. just having a good listener to grip to sometimes helps, keep your self busy, dont fall into the traps of not eating, sleeping alot, overeating, smoking and drinking, this make it worse. make a list of what bothers you deep down, got thru the list and mark off the ones that you have no control over, put the others in order of importance, try to fix or forget a problem a week. just remember what you are worring about today will be forgotten next week. LIFE IS NOT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU BUT HOW YOU REACT TO IT.

HOPE THIS HELPS
and one more thing, always remember GOD loves you and is on your side.

Its hard for me to me in a classroom setting? How do I get over this social anxiety? Does anybody feel this way?

Sweetie, I know someone that is really close to me had social anxiety in a classroom setting. She kept shaking everyday in class and she was getting sick a lot. I think the best way to get over social anxiety is asking a psychiatrist and a counselor for help. A counselor can show strategies on how to ease nervousness and put you in more comfortable position when you are in a classroom. Also, a psychiatrist can get you on a treatment plan and put you on a type of medication that can help take away of symptoms of social anxiety. I'm so so sorry your feeling this way because I know what its like to be super nervous too. Here are some websites that might help you :

* http://www.adaa.org/
Sweetie, I hope this helps! Just remember that there is a way to treat this . Also, keep everybody's responses in mind and make sure that you get help immediatly or as soon as possible because it can be serious if not treated! You are within my prayers!

i’m not a trained psychiatrist, but i’d never suggest taking any medication for social anxiety - there are more than enough things in this world messing up your biochemistry.

you gotta do some serious soul searching. uncover your achilles’ heel. bring whatever is holding you back into the light cos it doesn’t deserve save haven! it’s time to come out and play
