Answers to all your questions about anxiety and panic attacks

What is it that makes people get scared & fear of dieing when they are getting chest pains due to cause they suffer from Anxiety? why do chest pains make you feel this way?!

Your talking about Panic Attacks. A real panic attack makes you hyperventilate hence you get pains, feel like you can not breath, dizziness and pins & needles in your feet and hands, so the more you panic the worse it gets. Its call the Flight and Fear response, from the Cave Man days when it gave him the adrenaline to run from screaming beasts or whatever. I was convinced I was having a Stroke. I thought I’d been having them for about 7 years but then i had what I call a real one and it was bad. It’s feels very physical and is an chemical imbalance in your brain mainly caused by too much stress. Hence the anxiety tablet help sort out the chemical level.

I’m hosting an exchange student this year. She’s got a lot of anxiety about school and her relocation and isn’t sleeping :( She’s asked me to take her to the doctor for medications for this, but as an Ambien user myself I disagree.
We talk openly about the stress on her and do what we can to help. I’d like if somebody could advise me on natural remedies for these problems with diet and vitamins, etc…
Thanks!

Hi Sammy, I can sympathize & try 2 offer my solutions…I 2 dint like medications & feel that in this day & age people over use them to assist things that can b remedied naturally.I would maybe have a night time Chill Down & relax by sitting watching a feel good movie & then a nice bath with Lavender essential oils ( only a small drop ) then a milky drink, like horlicks or ovaltine….The mind tends 2 relax more when the body is…I hope this helps & I’m so glad that u talk openly about Stress, as that’s 1/2 the battle also…

Stress and anxiety…help? =(?

Posted on: 16, Nov

I always get stressed out before tests. I never had such severe anxiety problems when my classes were easier. Currently, I am taking all honors classes and my electives and also difficult. Should I drop some of the honors next year to help this problem. I need help…
When I get really stressed out, my stomach will start burning and I won't be able to eat.

Praying helps BIG time. Pray about all things that are in your heart. The Lord hears you. He will help you if you believe in Him. God can do all things. In His Word (Bible) it says:

Phillipians 4:6-7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

A good book that helped me understand how powerful prayer is
“Power of a Praying Woman” by Stormie Omartian.

Here is the Fathers Love Letter to you & how much He loves you.

The Lord bless you & keep you.

It hasn't come yet. I've been very stressed out, depressed, & frustrated lately.

Yes, that is a major factor in irregular periods. Drink some green tea and maybe try to slow down and eliminate some of your stress if possible. Good luck.

I am currently undergoing Acupuncture treatment for Depression & Anxiety. The Treatment is going ok, I seem to be really good then really bad, but have a lot of faith in Chinese Medicine so am bareing with it. I have currently had 6 sessions and have been great after some but bad after others. Can anybody advise how many treatments I will need to stabilize my moods, and to be free from Depression & Anxiety?

As things are getting better you should continue for at least another 6 sessions and then assess if you have improved even further; if you have then carry on, if your not it maybe that your accupunturist isnt the best and maybe you should consider seeing a different one.

Definately ask your current accupunturist about how much longer they think you may need.

From the sounds of things it seems to be helping you, if you have been depressed for a long time it may take quite a while for you moods to fully stabalise and you may continue to experiance mood swings for a while but this is just you body sorting itself out so dont worry.

The good news is that once your 100% well you probably wont relapse, especially if you have a 'top up' session every 6months or so after you finish your current treatment.

Please dont give up the treatment, chinese medicine is very powerful and much safer than conventional western treatments and more effective in the long run; so dont believe the sceptics who dont accept scientifically tested fact.

I wish you very success and hope you feel better soon. I had accupunture for a similar problem and it does work - just have faith

RE: My 7 month old son
breastfed and solid fed (fruits & vegetables)

He used to sleep through the night. For the past 2 weeks he has been waking every 3 hours. Because I'm sleepy, I put him on the breast and he goes back to sleep. But I believe it is separation anxiety during bedtime. How can I get him to sleep through the night again?

Thanks!

He may be teething. Try keeping him in the crib and rubbing his back until he falls asleep. Comfort nursing will be hard to break once it starts.

I have been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder & anxiety. I struggle with it pretty bad, some weeks or months are better or worse than others. Sometimes I feel like I cannot control my mind or that my mind works against me by bringing to mind the exact thing that I dont want to think about. Now I will say I have seen documentaries on people with these disorders and there are definitely different degrees of it. So here is my question, can anyone who has experience with these disorders or is knowledgable about them tell me what works to suppress the symptoms or cure them all together. And I want to say I know medicine is a viable option but I dont want to go on medication, I am looking for advice on what works to suppress these symtoms without medication. And do the symptoms decease in time, cause during the bad episodes I believe this anxiety is ruining my life during those times it just gets so overwhelming.

If you don't want medication (which would help but not all the way), the most effective therapy (according to research) treatment is called response prevention (a cognitive-behavioral therapy), which basically involves the person gaining confidence (as another person answered above) in a systematic way. Understand that the more one gives in to OCD, the harder it is the next time, and the more the symptoms get worse. I would check for a therapist who is knowledgable in OCD and response prevention. Most other types of therapies will be slower.

The only problem with response prevention is the large amount of people who leave therapy early because of anxiety.
