Can Coffee cause anxiety and sleep disorders?
And does Coffee increase your metabolism ?
Thank you.
Coffee increases the basic metabolic rate, which helps burn more calories. It increases mental clarity, as well as muscular coordination, can help to increase respiration rates and gives also a boost to low blood pressure. Indeed, several studies have concluded that metabolic rate or energy expenditure is positively affected by coffee consumption. For example, a study in the American Journal of Physiology in 1995 showed that energy expenditure increases by about 10% in response to caffeine ingestion.
Caffeine is the world’s most popular psychoactive drug. It boosts metabolism and energy levels, making you feel more alert by interfering with the action of drowse-inducing adenosine in the brain. It also manipulates the same channels in the brain as amphetamines, activating the brain’s pleasure centers. A recent study from Brazil finding that people who drink coffee with milk each day are less likely to have depression. Also, studies have shown that coffee drinkers have a lower incidence of suicide than the rest of the population. Caffeine is a stimulant which, in moderate amounts, helps with fatigue associated with depression. Coffee has been shown to contain small quantities of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), which are natural antidepressants.
Just make sure you drink GOOD coffee and not the cheapest stuff you can get your hands on! Coffee should be handpicked, and best are Arabica beans. Order coffee farm direct, and you'll be surprised how well it tastes, let's you sleep, and you'll never go back to the regular supermarket shelves for it.

I have a friend who is involved with a married woman. He has never done this type of thing before and he is typically a very moral person. It seems to be triggering some anxiety and depression with him and he feels very guilty and ashamed. It's making him really sad because everything is so hidden and wrong. He's worried all the time. He used to have problems with anxiety and depression, but hasn't in a few years. This situation seems to have affected him very badly, but he is still with her. Could this be considered situational stress and would go away if he stopped the relationship?
In most of the cases affair brings all these.
One of the reason is that-
in most cases either lady or Man choose a wrong partner.
or Any one of the partner want only time-pass / enjoy sex.
or One failed to get engaged with any other guys-
etc many reasong.
Best is to feel, share in any affair.

I'm a pretty heavy user and I haven't done it in like a week and I keep getting feelings of anxiety but I don't even know why or what the source is. I don't have anything to be worried about.
long term use of marijuana can lead to psychological dependence, this is different than a physical dependence. It is similar to the addiction to gambling a compulsive gambler has or the addiction to sex a sex addict has. Although symptoms are usually minor ranging from slight depression, anxiety and moodiness they will usually pass within two weeks of quitting.
*personal opinion*: I enjoy life more while smoking, and have gone on long stints with and without it due to jobs. I have quit for periods as long as 4 years and smoked daily for periods as long as 5 years and life is much better for me at least while smoking.

Whenever I lose just a couple of pounds it brings on considerable anxiety. Keep in mind that I do need to lose the weight and I experience the anxiety BEFORE I realize I've had any weight loss. Anyone know what might be the reason for this? I am sure it is not psychological. Thanks.
If you are not eating enough (especially if drinking caffiene) or are taking any sort of diet pills that could be responsible for your anxiety.

Lifting weights gives me some mild derealization and increases my anxiety hours later.
However, cardio work does NOT do this.
Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this strange herb called “St John’s Wort” - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that “learned behavior” in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….
