Is Shortness Of Breath A common Symptom Of Anxiety?

By admin

This is a common symptom i experience.
Thanks.

It can be, yes. Anxiety affects different people in different ways. I would definitely go and see your doctor about it as they’ll be the best person to help you deal with it. They may prescribe you something or they may teach you how to deal with it in another way. But definitely go and see them.

Yes, especially if you get a panic attack. You can use this simple technique to overcome it.
Here is the AWARE technique, which you can use if you ever have any anxiety, especially bodily sensations.

A - Accept the anxiety, don’t try and fight it or run away.
W - Watch the anxiety like an outsider, scale it as a number and level of panic, (this helps you engage the rational part of your brain, which during panic is suppressed due to the emotional part being stronger).
A - Act normal, carry on with whatever you were doing.
R - Repeat the above steps.
E - Expect the best!

Yes,it is when we are anxious or having a panic attack we breathe too fast, and that causes us to be breathless, sit somewhere quiet and breathe slower, count backwards slowly from 50 to 0, i find that helps me, just remember nothing bad will happen to you, you are safe you do not need to be fearful of anything, hope that helps. There is a website-how to be rid of panic attacks(it deals with anxiety too)by wikihow
