Chest Pain from Anxiety or Electrical Shock?
ByFive days ago I shocked myself by accidentally touching a prong while trying to pull out a cord. I felt a shock in my hand and later I had a headache but otherwise I felt fine. I did start becoming worried that I damaged my heart however because I am an anxious person in general. Two days ago I started getting mild, dull chest pain which has me worried that I actually did damage it. I have been known to get anxiety related chest pain in the past however (I went to a doctor and he cleared me). Is it possible to damage your heart with the amount of current in a household outlet or could it just be my anxiety? I have been running everyday and it feels fine and I’m not short of breath or anything.
Joanna … be at peace … you definitely didn’t damage your heart at all. If a person is grounded and touches a live wire then it is possible for the electricity to cross the chest (e.g. touching a live wire with both hands could kill you). In that case the person actually feels the charge going through their chest which can stop the heart. In your case you just got shocked, that’s all. Take care ! Chip
