Are these the symptoms of anxiety disorder?

By admin

Ok well i think i might have anxiety disorder and the reason i think this, is because when i am amongst a large group of people, i start to feel overwhelmed and sweaty. I feel like that all the eyes are looking at me, and i get really nervous and i start to wish i could get out of the room. Also i find it hard talking to some people. Some of the time i am fine with people and other times i feel like they are judging me, and because i get so nervous when talking to strangers my lips start to tremble. This is really embarrasing that i have this problem and i really want help for it, but how do i get help!!??
this also even affects me trying to find work, because i avoid looking for work such as bar staff or restaurant work.

maybe. go to your doctor. my brother has anxiety and what you said exactly matches what he has.

It definitely sounds like a form of social anxiety. You should book an appointment with your GP and go along and tell them how you’re feeling. They should give you a little questionnaire to fill out ( http://www2.psy.unsw.edu.au/groups/dass/ ) about how you feel and they will be able to tell you if they feel you have anxiety. If they believe you do they may give you a small dose of an anti-depressant (most likely to be this one- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citalopram) , don’t be afraid of this! i’ve been in the same situation and they completely worked for me, i was only on them for 5 months and i’ve been off them for around 7 months and feel absolutely fine. They just help teach your body to release more serotonin which is a kind of "happy hormone". They may also refer you for some cognitive behavioural therapy (http://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/mentalhealthinformation/therapies/cognitivebehaviouraltherapy.aspx) which can really help you to practice techniques and ways of calming yourself when you feel anxious. Hope this has helped, call and book an appointment asap! honestly, it was the best move for me ever.

Good luck!
