Are occasional heart rate peaks symptoms of anxiety?
ByI find at times though mentally I am calm, I can't calm my heart beat. Or I am awakened by a frequent heart rate.
I've never been diagnosed with any heart issues and in fact, if I would gladly avoid the medical realm altogether; I hate people who frequent doctors with their miniscule problems, but there has always been this funny feeling in me, since childhood that something is off with my heart.
A normal adult heart beats between 60 and 100 times a minute. A heart rate over 100 beats a minute is called tachycardia. Some tachycardias are relatively harmless and need no treatment, but others can be life-threatening. Treatment for recurrent tachycardia can range from daily medication to open-heart surgery. A specific diagnosis is necessary before finding the right treatment for your tachycardia.

YES ABSOLUTELY ANXIETY!!!!!!!!! YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!! I worry soo much about everything that I have to take ambien or I have severe nightmares! About crazy, ridiculous Stupid stuff! I started seeing a cardiologist last year because I was awakened every night when I laid on my left side. It felt like I had just ran a marathon! It POUNDS!!! Found out my heart "Skips" a lot, is what he said. I can feel it when it happens too. A Lot at nite! Considered cause was from several TIA'S ( mini-strokes). My blood pressure got high & I now take Topral & Plavix ( a blood pressure pill & a blood thinner]. & a baby asprin daily. PLEASE darling, just go see a CARDIOLOGIST & simply get an EKG & if you have insurance - definately a stress test ( you will either run on a treadmill or wear a little monitor for 24-hrs.) The monitor is what my doc preferred. One little blocked artery may require a "stint" . People tell me it's hardly a big deal, but what if u need more than one? If u want to live to be old…PLEASE do this for yourself & peace of mind. I HAD to because I know what you're feeling - I felt it too. I feel better new - trying to cut out the bad habits because I drink vodka & smoke too much. Good Luck!! Patty (PS…Let me know what u find out @ pattyjols@roadrunner.com]

No but might be a common excuse if you don't have insurance. If it doesn't happen often and doesn't make you breathless you should be fine but might need a pacemaker when you get elderly. Any unexplained fainting don't forget to mention unexplained heart racing/tachycardia.
There is quite a lot of leeway w. the heart, this could also be a minor sinus node or atrial fibrillation problem. Below is perhaps worst case.
