Not sure that he …
Not sure that he followed the Socratic principles he spoke so well of in his other work. What if those people value money because it comforts them to think that one day they can care for loved ones? It’s not clear that absolutely everyone who values money does so for purely selfish reasons. Even if they do, perhaps it says more about our inability to determine what actually makes us happy and less about the ‘American system’ that imposes this behaviour on us. His argument needs more work

How can we explain …
How can we explain to this people, that money doesn’t exist?
A ideia, artificial, not real, not natural.

4

I think that pastor …
I think that pastor we’ll have to rethink his philosophy and interpretations of Christianity and economic success. Religion has been a “business” for a very long time, and it will continue that way so long as there are people who wish to use it and God for their own success.

when he talked …
when he talked about self esteem = success/expectation in a previous part, it was very interesting. I think it is people like the pastor that are raising the expectation to unreasonable levels.

Heh… I really …
Heh… I really liked the pastor’s logic (from about 2:35-2:59) where he talks about Jesus’ richness yet how he was poor, and how that means that we as poor people need to become rich.

Props for having …
Props for having the foresight to intelligently defend Christian faith in the face of today’s climate, rather than simply dismiss it as crap. Very human explanation as to the guts of why people find virtue a humbling faith.
