Dr Lason, vitamin B3 deficiency cause anxiety, depression, fatigue
By
For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.
In this video clip, she tells how a deficiency of vitamin B3, niacinamide, can cause anxiety depression and fatigue.
She also notes that vitamin B3 can eliminate a kind of alcohol psychosis that causes paranoia and feeling quarrelsome.
Note: the doses of vitamin B3 used for this are several thousand milligrams, which is a much higher dose than is found in multiple vitamins.
Dr. Larson also points out that anti-anxiety medicines such as Valium, Xanax, Ativan, and Librium attach to the same anti-anxiety receptors in the brain as vitamin B3.
She also notes that when the patent for Valium ran out, the drug company, Hoffman LaRoche, admitted that they got the formula for Valium by trying to copy the chemical structure of vitamin B3.
Imagine that.
“Niacin, vitamin B3, [ later she corrects this and says what she meant was niacinamide, which is the non-flushing form of vitamin B3 ] reverses a kind of alcohol psychosis that people who have been drinking typically have, where they feel paranoid, and quarrelsome, and may even have sensory disperceptions…
“Niacin [ niacinamide ] will turn that around completely.
“[ People with a vitamin B3 deficiency ] may look like they are schizophrenic, but they’re not.
“If you treat them… and at the end, we do all our testing again… that is always corrected.
“Niacin… [ I mean, ] niacinamide, which crosses the blood brain barrier, not niacin, binds to the same brain receptors that binds the benzodiazepines, like Valium, Librium, Ativan, Xanax, and so, it has anti-anxiety effects.
“And when Hoffman LaRoche’s patent grant amounts under Valium, they admitted that, where they got the formula, was from niacin.
“[Dr. Abram ] Hoffer the standard classification of anxiety neurosis fits into the description, perfectly, of initial symptomatology of subclinical pellagra, which is niacin deficiency…
“There is hyperactivity, [ anxiety ], depression, fatigue, apprehension, headache, and insomnia.”
Dr. Larson is the author of “7 Weeks to Sobriety”, “Depression Free”, and “7 Weeks to Emotional Healing”.

markenhagen,
I don’t know.
I would not try to guess.
If possible, I would go see Dr. Larson.
She does lab tests for everything to figure out exactly what is wrong.
Psychiatry does not do this.

many months since a comment is on here. I have been very depressed since about 13 years old when i got my first panick attack. I have been masking the problem with alcohol and i am 33 and my depression and anxiety are at their worst. I have cut down tremendously lately and the anxiety is going down but the depression always seems to linger. But i remember even before the anxiety i always felt kind of down and tired as a boy. You think this could be a vitamin deficiency?

Yes, there are …
Yes, there are tests you can do in order to determine exactly what is causing the problem.
Dr. Larson is big on doing lab tests.
This is one of her complaints about psychiatry — they don’t do any lab tests.
Everyone they diagnose with depression is treated the same.
But treating everyone is a mistake.
Dr. Amen says “treating everyone the same invites disaster.”

You might do a Google search for “portugual orthomolecular medicine” to see if you can find a doctor near you.
It’s unfortunate that doctors are unaware of natural medicine.

yes, it’s been terrible and the problem is probably bigger than one could think. there are many sites helping people getting off these drugs , thank God.
I’m from Portugal and i think our natural doctors don’t even know these supplements exist. thank you!

I’m so sorry to hear that.
Thanks for sharing the information.
I would talk to a doctor who practices natural medicine.
I imagine they can help you solve your problem of panic and depression.
It might be as simple as taking some tryptophan and some other nutrients.
You might also contact Dr. Larson via email or phone and ask her.
Here contact info is listed at the end of the video.

I agree - interesting.
The fact you appear to be referring to is that Joan Mathews Larson notes that the anti-anxiety drug Vallium was made by trying to copy vitamin B3, niacinamide.

Unfortunately, the only way to correct it is to delete this video clip, and upload a new one which would have a different URL.
So anyone who tells someone, “Hey, you may be interested in this clip,” the video would not be there any more, and the person would not necessarily know that a new, corrected video had been uploaded.

Very informative …
Very informative and compelling, but please correct the last bit of the video. Spelling makes all the difference in helping people take things a little more seriously. Addiction is spelled wrong. People might need help with addition, but this video has nothing to do with math skills. Please change it.

Two other compounds that have anti-anxiety effects are

- Inositol
You might also go to Dr. Larson’s website and read about anxiety.

It has anti-anxiety …
It has anti-anxiety effects.
In another video clip, she also notes that a deficiency of zinc and vitamin B6 can cause anxiety. It’s called pyroluria.
She also notes that hypoglycemia can cause anxiety.
Therefore, correcting hypoglycemia will correct this, if this is the cause.
In yet another video clip, she notes that food allergies can cause panic attacks.
So, eliminating allergic foods would correct this, if this is the cause.
The amino acids tryptophan and tyrosine may also help.

I would strongly encourage you to download the entire video for $5.
I have nothing to do with it, but it’s fascinating.
I will post a video of how Dr. Larson came to do what she does.
Briefly, 30 years ago, her son became addicted to drugs and alcohol, went into “talk therapy”, then came home and committed suicide.
As a mother, she wanted to stop the suffering of all the children of the world.
I love her for this.
It’s her life’s work.
The music is from Shawshank Redemption.
