Can heart palpitations cause anxiety, as opposed to anxiety causing heart palpitations?
ByI feel like my heart is beating rapidly, even though there is no psychological cause for it, i.e. nervousness. I think the cause is physical, probably dehydration. However, my rapid heartbeat seems to be making me think of things that make me anxious. What’s up with that?
How fast are we talking here? Take your pulse at a resting time and get back to me. To short answer you, if you are already worried and you feel your heart skip around then yes, you will become anxious about your heart skipping. It doesn’t help the already troubled state you’re in to begin with and adds to your stressors. Try to stay as low key as possible. If you think its just dehydration, eat a banana and drink plenty of water or pedialite. Get rest and eat well. No tobacco. This may bring your palps’ to a halt.
