What is the best way to help with my anxiety?
ByI’ve been having the worst and strangest dreams lately and my mom says it’s anxiety, what can I do to help it?
Here are some basic tips you can adjust in your everyday life that contribute to your anxiety.
* Progressive muscle relaxation. When anxiety takes hold, progressive muscle relaxation can help you release muscle tension and take a “time out” from your worries. The technique involves systematically tensing and then releasing different muscle groups in your body. As your body relaxes, your mind will follow.
* Deep breathing. When you’re anxious, you breathe faster. This hyperventilation causes symptoms such as dizziness, breathlessness, lightheadedness, and tingly hands and feet. These physical symptoms are frightening, leading to further anxiety and panic. But by breathing deeply from the diaphragm, you can reverse these symptoms and calm yourself down.
* Meditation. Many types of meditation have been shown to reduce anxiety. Mindfulness meditation, in particular, shows promise for anxiety relief. Research shows that mindfulness meditation can actually change your brain. With regular practice, meditation boosts activity on the left side of the prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain responsible for feelings of serenity and joy.
*Reach out for support-The more connected you are to other people, the less vulnerable you’ll feel. If you start to feel overwhelmed with worry, call a trusted family member or friend. Just talking out loud about your worries can make them seem less threatening.
*Adopt healthy eating habits-Going too long without eating leads to low blood sugar, which can make you feel anxious and irritable. Eat plenty of complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Not only do complex carbs stabilize blood sugar, they also boost serotonin, a neurotransmitter with calming effects.
*Limit caffeine and sugar-Caffeine can increase anxiety, interfere with sleep, and even provoke panic attacks.
*Exercise regularly-Exercise is a natural and effective anti-anxiety treatment. For maximum anxiety relief, try to get at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity on most days.
*Avoid alcohol and nicotine
*Get enough sleep-Anxiety and worry can cause insomnia, as anyone whose racing thoughts have kept them up at night can attest. But lack of sleep can also contribute to anxiety. When you’re sleep deprived, your ability to handle stress is compromised.

I would honestly get a medical opinion, unless your mom’s a doctor..
But sometimes they say dreams have a deeper meaning, What are your dreams about?
I don’t know if you want to get all spiritual but you should try and understand what your dreams mean, and how they give you anxiety..
And if you still think it’s anxiety, go to a doctor

To help anxiety and as a bonus sleep better:
(I got this from another website, I didn’t write it)
# Hot bath about an hour before bedtime. A nice, leisurely bath might be just the recipe for relaxation and the most soothing of all sleep remedies. Add some aromatherapy products whose gentle fragrances will linger even after you’re in bed. The body heat and relaxing smells will help you achieve happier dreams.
# Soothing music. Instead of listening to the soundtrack of a Stephen King film, maybe you should try some music that brings peace of mind before bedtime. Or you could even purchase a collection of soothing sounds from nature (like waves crashing on a beach or waterfalls in a forest) designed to accompany your sleep – you might have laughed at these recordings in the past, but they do help people avoid nightmares.
# Meditation. Learn meditation techniques by enrolling in classes or researching meditation online. Thousands of years of human practice of natural sleep remedies can’t be wrong.
This is a website for deep breathing to be more calm:

Live a worry-free life. Redirect your mind from negative thoughts to positive point of view. You shouldn’t always think about your problems. It will only create you more anxiety. If you feel bad redirect your mind. Watch a couple of great movies. Have a great conversation or night out. Go to the gym and really focus on the workout. When you are done your feelings will most likely be more positive. It is much better to do something to whatever is causing your anxiety than wound up in those negative feelings. You can also get more helpful information by reading Self Help Articles on the web with topics about dealing with Anxiety. Indulge yourself reading articles like this. I’ve posted one for you below.

Just do things that make you happy. Surround yourself with friends, exercise, meditate, read the bible, dance and sing. Talk to family and friends whenever something’s bothering you. For instant stress relief recline with a book and a warm drink, dance to or sing a nice song, take deep breaths. (Cheesy, I know, but they work!) Think about the good things in life, and whenever stressed about something, just think ‘In a few years, will this still matter?’
