What are some good herbal supplements or treatments for irritability, anger and anxiety?

By

I’m looking for a natural kind of sedative so I am not as irritable and short tempered about little things that people do that annoy me. I dont want something that’s gonna put me to sleep but is actually going to treat the cause – not sure what that is but.
Just hoping someone has tried something for irritability and anger and it’s worked.
Thanks very much.

Follow these suggestions

1 read the book 7 weeks to emotional healing and follow the suggestions for anger, anxiety etc. Take the tests as well.

They have the nutritional, behavioral and medical treatments for several categories including anger and anxiety and more.

2 Also read change your brain, change your life..it had a lot of practical suggestions and nutritional ones as well

3 Also take at least 3000-5000 mg of fish oil.

A book I read said that this changes one’s brain and has been verified by pet scans for a wide variety of mental illnesses and emotions including schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety, add, dyslexia, agoraphobia etc..

In addition to the fish oil caps, also up your intake of omega three fats in food as we have many times too much omega six fatty acids when they should be in balance..this imbalance causes too many neurotransmitters to build up in the synaptic gap of the brain due to hardening of the neurotransmitter receptor sites, and this causes chemical imblances which affect our brain and our emotions.

Omega three fats are found in cold water fatty fish both fresh and canned such as salmon (do not use farm raised only wild caught), mackerel, herring and sardines…these have several times more omega three fats than tuna but nearly all seafoods have some. Land sources are hard to come by and include flax seeds, flax seed oil, purslane and raw walnuts.

4 check earl mindells vitamin bible for the amino acids that help these problems or take a comprehensive protein shake supplement to be sure you are getting all the amino acids you needs as these can and do affect emotions.

5 finally, check out back flower essences..these have very specific uses for a wide variety of personality types and emotions and are said to change the vibrational frequency and eventually as issue from the past come to mind help a person completely chance long standing habits.

Get a good book to explain which essences help which personality traits and problems…they can be very specific and several will likely fit you..pick a few of the ones that resonate most that you want to change and work on those first..then as they resolve, tackle a few more.

6 as far as herbs ofhelp, for anxiety a good herbal is organic kava kava in tincture form not capsules. Another to be taken at bedtime is organic valerian tincture. also try rescue remedy for stress and crisis moments.

7 Also take melatonin and sniff lavender essential oil at bedtime and smell the lavender essential oil whenever you feel stressed.. The melatonin and lavender will give you deeper level of sleep and this may help your disposition. Take about 3-5 mg of melatonin 1/2 hour before you want to sleep.

For a long term solution of this and nearly every health problem, people who go to vegan diets tend to find they are more peaceful and happy I heard..people who have been raw food faddists I have heard can experience a complete change of personality and disposition for the better.

Are you getting enough calcium and magnesium in your diet?? Without sufficient calcium you will suffer insomnia, headaches and migraines, irritability and moodiness, achy bones, digestive upsets such as bloating and cramping and constipation, nasty mood swings ……… calcium is essential for healthy bones, teeth and heart health and neural functioning and works in tandem with magnesium (known as the antistress mineral)…… lack of magnesium will give you migraines and headaches, nervous and twitching and muscular issues and will also cause lower back aches and bad digestion ……. increasing your daily intake of foods rich in both such as leafy and green vegies, brocolli, kale, spinach, celery, buk choy, fresh fish such as tuna and salmon and organic nuts and seeds such as almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds will all dramatically reduce your irritability and moodiness and stress levels.

Eat more green vegies mate, another thing they’ll do is encourage the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy and help resolve any issues you may have with constipation and bloating…….. leafy green and salad vegies is the way to go …… rich in the living enzymes every cell in your body needs to work properly….. and don’t require vitamin leaching cooking either.

A little extra effort sure but anything worth having is worth the extra effort ….. cheap too …. i reckon calmness and peace of mind is worth a few bowls of green vegies a day.

oh, the things that will rip the calcium and magnesium right out of your bones are a diet high in processed sugar, processed salt, animal protein, saturated fat, caffeine, sodas, pop and soft drinks and alcohol….. they all raise the uric acid levels in your blood stream thus prompting your body to leach calcium and magnesium minerals from your bones to try and neutralise it.

drink more water too and hydrate yourself properly…… the happiest body will always be the one that is well hydrated.

peace baby

You could be hyperthyroid. Use Nux Vomica 30 three times a day until the tantrum is in control. Use Iodium 1M one dose in 15 days (one dose is just one globule) incase hyperthyroidsm is detected. Check the highest portion of the palm right under thumb on both hands. They would be painful. Put pressure on the area of pain for two minutes each day. The day when the pain vanishes, the anger will also be under control and the forehead will feel cool. with best wishes.

I heard of several good remedies in which I too am experimenting with.
The amino acids L-Theanine, Gutamine, and GABA. B complex is good for the brain and energy.
I’ve been reading alot about Rhodiola Rosea as an ant-depressant. Supposed to build serotonin and other neuro-transmitters. Under one site that I was looking at it mentioned Amoryn. It contains hyperum (the ingredient in St. Johns Wort that helps depression) 5 HTP, Rhodiola, and a few other good ingredients. For sleep without the next morning grogginess, Valerian, Kava Kava and Chamomile, also magnesium works good. Also research homeoapathy and essential oils like Lavendar. A bath of epsom salt, baking soda and lavendar is supposed to be very relaxing.
I found that diet is a huge factor in your moods. I started cutting out sugar and bad carbs and that made a big difference in the way I feel and I have more energy. Also I read that we eat too much wheat and other grains in this country and many people have food allergies and or sensitivities to them which can cause depression and irritability. Also dairy can be a problem for many. We need more fruits and vegetables and good protein instead.
I hope you find what works.

Try this product Goji-juice from my personal website that I use to distribute Freelife products. I have had amazing results from that and also the DailyEdge multivitamin which is like a health food store in a bottle. I instantly felt better the next day, and my anger has subsided significantly (no more fights with the wifey). I don’t do this to make money, just to distribute these really good products to friends, family, and others. They are of exceptional quality!

Lack of B vitamins is a good reason why you can feel that way.

Handling any other deficiencies will work too. Go to a nutritionist who can test you out for what you need.

5htp – take 50-100mg last thing at night. This increases serotonin levels in the brain.

L-Theanine – an amino acid – good for an immediate calming effect, but I have read that it lowers serotonin levels in the brain, so don’t take it long term and don’t bother taking it with the 5htp or neither of them will work properly. Just experiment with both of them separately then stick with the one that you liked most. If you’re prone to depression, then stick to the 5htp. Anger and irritability can be a symptom of depression.

Passiflora – a herbal remedy – take one capsule in the morning and one at night.

A combined magnesium/calcium supplement – acts as a natural sedative without causing tiredness.

The vitaimin B complex – essential for effective nervous system functioning.

Cut out ALL caffeine – even in tea – buy decaf or drink herbal/fruit teas.

I do all of the above and have found that my mood, anxiety, irritability and anger has diminished by about 80%.

Valerian also has a sedative effect – take at night, but it can cause tiredness the next day. Only take it once in a while if you’re really stressed and need a good nights sleep.

Hope you feel better soon.

If you want to avoid taking meds, for stress and/or mild anxiety , I suggest relaxation exercises, see
http://relaxation-antistress.blogspot.com/
They are excellent for relieving stress/anxiety. Also, it’s free & they don’t sell you nothing.
Other excellent options are yoga and meditation.

If anxiety is extreme or the above doesn’t work, I advice to see a psychiatrist so you can be properly diagnosed and treated.

For anger and irritability, I suggest possitive thinking :)

Try Byron Katie’s "The Work" – she’s on youtube. This is a great dialogue to help clarify why you are getting angry.

Read Patrick Holford’s Low GL diet – it sounds like you could have a blood sugar imbalance – this can lead to irritability, mood swings, depression, aggressive outbursts, crying spells, chronic fatigue, excessive thirst, cravings for sweets or stimulants, drowsiness after meals. I used to have constant anxiety and since using this diet, I have felt calm, dropped any weight, feel great and have real energy again. It might be worth considering.

For the natural sedative, I tried Kalms, (Or any valerian based product) and they did work well just to take the edge off the irrititability.
