Psychiatrist wants to put me on a low dose of Seroquel. Does this help with anxiety and depression?

Are there any horrible side effects that any of you have experienced from it?

Not all people get all side effects. A drug works for some people and not for others. Keep track of how you do on any and all drugs so you can give good feedback to your doctor to help get on the right meds. for you and the right dosage. God bless my friend. I hope this helps. Love, Makwa/Jo:)

It’s done wonders for our neighbor who has PT SD = he was in Iran and Iraq for 15 months. It’s not without it’s problems and getting the dosage right takes time.

I’ve placed a couple links for you to go read and understand what the drug is, how it works and what the side effects are.

And it if turns out that this drug doesn’t work well for you; there are plenty of others. Don’t get discouraged!

Why is Seroquel prescribed?
Seroquel is prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia, a mental disorder marked by delusions (false beliefs), hallucinations, disrupted thinking, and loss of contact with reality. It is also used for the treatment of manic and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder.

Seroquel belongs to one of the newer classes of antipsychotic medications. Researchers believe that it works by diminishing the action of dopamine and serotonin, two of the brain’s chief chemical messengers.

Most important fact about Seroquel
Seroquel may cause tardive dyskinesia, a condition characterized by uncontrollable muscle spasms and twitches in the face and body. This problem can be permanent, and appears to be most common among older adults, especially women.

Side effects may include:
Abdominal pain, constipation, diminished movement, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, excessive muscle tone, headache, indigestion, low blood pressure (especially upon standing), nasal inflammation, neck rigidity, rapid or irregular heartbeat, rash, sleepiness, tremor, uncontrollable movements, weakness

try it out, if you start to feel horrible, call the Dr right away.
Usually that pill doesnt have too many side effects that bother people besides drowsiness and weight gain. You can take it at night, if thats what yr Doc prescribes.
It will just help keep your moods more balanced.

Quetiapine has recently become fashionable among psychiatrists for use in anxiety, having previously been used as an anti-psychotic. As far as I am aware it still has no UK licence for anxiety however.

It is broadly well tolerated, here is the data sheet:

A low dose of Seroquel will calm your mind down.
It made me very ill, but most people get on ok with it.
It works quickly so you will soon know in a few days if you like it or not.
It can make depression worse, so watch your mood.
