Is it bad to take Tylenol PM to help me get to sleep at night?

I’ve been having trouble getting to sleep at night and sleeping in during the day…I’ve talked to a few of my friends and I have most of the symptoms of anxiety…Is it bad to take Tylenol PM to help me get to sleep and help me sleep in a little bit later in the day?

Tylenol and Benadryl are not habit forming. Neither of these drugs are bad for you in moderation. Tylenol can affect your liver but only at high doses around 4,000mg. One Tylenol PM is not going to be bad for you. I take 1 or 2 Benadryl when I can’t sleep or I know I need to get rest and am anxious about a test the next day. Taking benadryl is much better than getting a prescription sleep agent that can be habit forming.

Yes Troy, it’s very bad. Tylenol PM, Advil PM, and Nyquil are all meant for when you have a runny nose! The antihistamine is what’s making you drowsy, and it’s very addictive. Soon one will not work for you, then two, etc, etc. Save those for when you have a cold!

Troy, have you tried drinking warm milk before bed? Please don’t knock it till you try it!! lol You can add honey for great taste. Warm milk is soothing and makes you sleepy because it has the natural chemical Tryptophan in it. Millions of people, including myself, rely on warm milk every night to get right to sleep. Please try it.

Melatonin is another safe choice. It’s a vitamin sold everywhere. Walmart is probably the cheapest. Start with 3Mg’s before bed. If that doesn’t do the trick, you can take 4 or 5Mg’s. If you have any questions or doubts, talk to the pharmacist.
