I THINK I HAVE ANXIETY OR PANIC ATTACKS!HELP PLEASE?
ByI am 16 years old.I have been getting anxiety or panic attacks when ever I am around my friends,my friend’s house,or sometimes at home.I feel like I can’t breathe my chest hurts, and it feels like I have a lump in my throat and sometimes my heart pounds really fast.I hate it so much.It interferes with my social life.I been telling my mom about this and she puts it on the side.she tells me what am I going to tell the doctor exactly and that hes probably going to do nothing about it.I don’t have anything to worry about and I don’t know why I am getting this.I would really appreciate it if someone can help me.
First off, to Jon, weed can actually BE a depressant to some people.
Karla, this is quite possibly anxiety.
However, I would not suggest barging to a doctor about it, for they will instantly ‘medicate’ you.
These ‘medications’ are semi-addictive, and make you depend on them.
Being medicated for this at this point could be very bad, if this is temporary, because the medicine would make it permanent. You wouldn’t be able to stop taking the medicine and be just fine.
I went through panic attacks, I occasionally have an episode even now.
This will likely pass though.
To help get by your days, you can try finding some form of expression, one that seems to be natural to you. ![]()
Meditation, or simply taking 10 minutes to yourself each day and forgetting about the world completely.
You may be able to find a peaceful spot in your neighborhood or wherever you live that simply eases your mind, relaxes you.
Also, a chemical imbalance is what they would label you as having if you went to the doctor.
A very common chemical imbalance is simply not enough Potassium in your brain.
So try eating a banana a day, or even a banana ever few days or week.
I would not suggest Potassium supplements though, for if you take too much, it can mess you up.
I hope you feel better.
If you need more help, feel free to eMail me. :3

Hey, I have the same problem.. I was put on paxil when i was younger but decided to come off it because didn’t want medicine for the rest of my life. I try to avoid huge crowds and what not. But I thinking having xanax or valium with you just in case relieves the anixety. Knowing you have back up if you need it. I carry if everywhere i go, if i start to feel like i have a panic attack coming i take my xanax .25mg… I don’t abuse the drug, just take it only when i feel it coming on. I hate this, i hope one day it goes away.. But having friends that know you have it, it can help you in social events.

You should fake an anxiety in front of your mom and show her like this is serious

Looks like you have some kind of Anxiety disorder. I suggest a assessment by competent psychologist is must. He will give you medicines if required , suggest some therapy and would do counseling which will help you overcome your symptoms.
