I need someone who has an anxiety disorder or has gone through a tough time’s help…?
ByI think I may have General Anxiety Disorder… I’ve been fretting about small things and worrying I’m gonna have a heart attack for a good 6 months now and I’ve been to the hospital exactly 19 times in the past 6 months… They’ve said my EKGs check out fine everytime. Can anyone give me some insight on what to do? Like how to cope with this besides going on medication? It’s beginning to get on my nerves so badly… I need someone who has experienced these feelings’ help.
when you are at the hospital what does the hospital staff suggest ??? Then take their input & go w/it~you may just need some counseling of sorts @ like the mental health clinic in your area~they charge on ability to pay for those w/out insurance~just cause you go for counseling does NOT mean they will try to medicate you♦

I’m always stressed out about what might happen to me also. Like I might all of a sudden have a seizure and all these health concerns people go through but don’t worry. Doctors know what they’re doing, so don’t worry about it, hon. Anxiety is just a phase of life. Just realize that health risks are normal but also REMEMBER that DOCTORS know what they are doing and they are knowledgable. Especially because you were fine everytime. Relax and enjoy life.

Here is some of my thearapist advice (I deal with anxiety problems)
one thing you can do is strech and try to loosen up your mucles as they usually get tight in anxiety attacks
another thing is to really think about it…from what you’ve said your afraid of death cause you fear your having a heart attack all the time. Why are you afraid of death?…think about root causes and try to overcome the fear and your anxiety should get easier to deal with.

Sounds like you need to talk to a counselor. If you have been to the hospital 19 times and you were fine.Sometimes just having someone that understands you helps a lot.Maybe you don’t need meds.A family member turned me on to a site that I read sometimes that has really helped me.I do see a shink and counselor.I like my counselor ok but the shink just listens a few mins and wants to get meds I cant afford so I understand what you are saying.Ok the site it called http://www.coping.org Maybe you should try it .It cant hurt you and it may help you/I myself stay stressed out so I can understand.I have a bad back and I am always worrying because when it goes out I cant do nothing but wait for it to get better again. You maybe having panic attacks.I do and it kinda feels like the air is being pulled out of your lungs. Its a very scary feeling.Do yourself a favor and find someome to talk too.

Anxiety is a tough disorder to go through. When I went through it, it was pretty bad for me. I like you, kept going to the doctor and they kept telling me everything was fine and that I need to go to a different doctor, a shrink. They gave me drugs also but I refuse to take it. Not worth the withdrawal symptoms that you have to go through when you have to get off them. Some weak people live on drugs afraid of getting off of it. It’s possible to get over it, just takes a lot of patience and time. What I did was go to barnes and nobles and read all kinds of books on anxiety and pick the one or two books that I thought could help me the most. Read them and try to understand what it is and do the exercises it ask you to do. Meditation worked for me, its safer than drugs and faster to react when needed.
When your heart starts palpitating, it feels like a heart attack but not and your body feels all wierd and stuff. Just learn to take deep breathes very very very slowly. Count to 6 breathing in and count to 7 breathing out. It’s important to breathe in all the way down to the navel, not just the chest. People breathe wrong and this is what causes anxiety. And also knowing that anxiety attacks can’t kill you, also helps. Don’t fight it. It makes it worse. Just roll with it. Flow with it. Close your eyes for a few minutes and practice your breathing. Always practice this even though your not feeling anxious. So that when times you do, you already know what to do. It works all the time. It helps to keep your mind off of it, Not sure how old you are, if you’re a teenager, go out and socialize, pick a hobby to do that will keep you busy. If you can find an anxiety book that mostly talks about meditation and how to meditate, that will help you immensely. It always works for me. I still get anxiety, but not as much as before, I got over it. It took time though. But pills are unecessary. If it helps to talk to a shrink, if you got insurance, than do it. You don’t need drugs though. People always want an easy way out, a miracle pill, that is what causes more anxiety. Patience is the key.
Good Luck!

My wife had relatively mild anxiety. She changed her diet to more fruits and vegetables and less processed food, began to exercise regularly and do yoga. This went along way toward alleviating much of her anxiety. We then found a homeopathic remedy that took the edge off the anxiety symptoms. Here are a few links that may be of help.

You can pray about your life. Know that God can help you live a better life if you want Him to help you. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end — time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God’s blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can’t explain the world’s natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner’s prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: "Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus’ name, amen." I’m Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church and also see about their weekly Bible study group as a good way to learn about God’s will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.

Listen to me.
I’ve had these feelings and I still do but they have reduced 90%.
I used to go to the hospital too and ended up going to the ER one time and every time I checked out ok.
I am going into health as a major and with my knowledge I decided to do some research.
I myself knew I wasn’t stressed or anything but I was still experiencing anxiety attacks and on-going heart palpitations.
These are just a few tips I have done and I have not had an anxiety attack since and the palpitations are slowly getting better.
( I am no doctor I am just recommending )
What I did.
1. Quit Any Type of Diet Drink/ Aspartame / Phenylalanine ( Which is also in chewing gum )
2. Quit Drinking Milk < This helped a lot.
3. Little To No Coffee
4. Nothing with excessive amounts of potassium (orange juice, bananas)
These are things that have helped me and are some things you could think about although I am no doctor and do not advise to change your diet drastically before talking with your doctor.
Good Luck.

Hi.
I’ve had an anxiety disorder for many years. I know exactly what you mean when you talk about that heart attack fear.
19 times in 6 months is a lot. Your EKG is fine but, you still can’t feel at ease.
You really need to see a medical doctor and have some blood work done to check your thyroid levels and your adrenal functions. If these hormones are not working correctly they can mimic or cause those psychical symptoms. Which can be fixed with medication.
If these aren’t the cause then you should ask for a referral to a mental health professional. A therapist and psychiatrist.
If you had a headache would you take some medication to get rid of it? Some times we need to take medication to get a hold of the symptoms
Therapy will help you to learn how to deal with the symptoms you are having.
The sooner you get some help the sooner you will start to feel better. If you do nothing you will still be where you are for a long time.
Be good to yourself and take care of this as soon as possible.
