How to reduce anxiety?
By adminI have pretty bad anxiety problems (for about two years). I get stressed out about practically everything and it’s getting to the point where I’m not sleeping and I eat considerably less than I normally would. I’ve been to therapy, but it never really worked for me. Should I consider going back anyway? How can I keep my level of anxiety down? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You need to see a family doctor first. She should decide what kind of treatment is most appropriate for you. Depending on your severity of anxiety there are many options. For example:
1. Relaxation techniques (yoga, meditation, reading existentialist philosophy, visualization etc..) if your anxiety is relatively low
2. Therapy administered by a psychologist, or a social worker or any other non-medical prorfessional, if your anxiety is a bit more severe
3. Cognitive psychotherapy or psychoanalysis administered by a psychiatrist for serious anxiety problems
4. Drugs, such as anti-depressants, for most severe cases of anxiety
Of course, you could include all, or any combination, of these treatments in your life.
Don’t get discouraged if the therapy doesn’t seem to be working for you. It may be because it’s the wrong type, or maybe you can’t form a communication line with the therapist. People sometimes go for years to psychoanalysis before they see any improvement.

There are many different routes to take but I would like to lay out the approach I would take.
1. Understand the physiology of your anxiety. Realize that there is a basic mechanical aspect that takes place in your nervous system. This may help you from allowing the discomfort from your anxiety reaction to overwhelm you.
2. Understand what the costs and benefits of your status quo regarding the anxiety is. Perhaps, a thorough understanding of the costs of your anxiety may help you become focused and motivated i the sense of becoming ready, willing and able to change.
3. Strengthen yourself through imagery. Imagine yourself brave and unfazed by the things that elicit anxiety in you. This imagery may also help you focus on change.
4. The bottom line is that to overcome anxiety, you need to engage the things that make you anxious or that you avoid due to anxiety. This is often referred to as exposure therapy. How you pace the exposure is critical and makes the difference between success or lack of success. This endeavor really requires commitment on your part. A therapist can provide structure, advice, help, guidance but only with an unshakable commitment to see things through to success will therapy be effect. Try this http://www.easyanxietycure.org/anxiety it is a natural method for relieving anxiety and panic attacks. It uses cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and works amazingly. I have gone from almost daily panic attacks to not having one for over a year. So if you are really suffering give this method a try.
