How to beat anxiety and depression without seeing a psychiatrist ?
ByI have been going through a lot my whole life and I finally have an appointment with a psychiatrist on Wednesday but it's really making me nervous. I am starting to have doubts on whether or not I should go. Should I still go or should I try and beat this depression and anxiety on my own ? What are things I can do on a daily basis to make myself feel better ? Any advice ? I feel like I should go but I have anxiety just thinking about going .
Take a deep breath and go to your appointment. Nothing ventured , nothing gained. Proper diet and exercise will help as well.

Both anxiety and depression became a big problem right about the time kids started to listen to music 24 hours a day. Music makes people feel an emotion and i don't believe its a good idea to pump the music and swing from emotion to emotion all day long. Cut out music for a while and see if u become more calm. And if u think holy crap no music? then u have a problem.

i have one bad news & one good news for you.
let's break the bad news first.u can never fight full blown depression without the help of a psychiatrist.so the faster u agree the better for u.many will tell u there are different ways to fight depression at home but trust me i have much more experience than them in these matters.the more u fear going to the psychiatrist the more problem u r gonna face.true depression CAN NEVER be cure by natural healing & alternative routes & other popular irrelevant hypothesis without the help from a medical person, namely psychiatrists.
now the good news.now a days psychiatric treatment has gone a radical change.so u can be completely cured & back to normal life with in a matter of months.specially if ur depression is an uncomplicated one. so be rest assured u r going to be in safe hands.
now why do u fear?is it for social stigmatization?don't be afraid.everyday thousands of ppl come to us for treatment.psychiatry has a social stigma still i agree but it's much reduced now a days.and it's ur mind & it's disease.would ur risk ur mental health just for the fear of what ppl will say?don't let ur fear get better of u.
do u fear what psychiatrists will also find in ur mind?we are not ur everyday bogyman ma'am.psychiatrists are just another bunch of doctors like ur internists.we don't like to harass our patients too.trust me.psychiatrists are there to treat u not scare u.
so go to a psychiatrist & follow his/her advice & u will be fine. have a good recovery.

Are you focusing on the positive, getting out in nature, meditating on loving kindness and being a good kind person? Are you getting out of your head and into your body as they say, taking walks in lovely places when you feel bad and breathing in deeply good fresh air?
Are you being loving and kind to yourself and not beating yourself up with negative thoughts about yourself and your life. Are you nurturing your good friendships and not seeing so much people that can be toxic to you?
If you are doing these things and still feel bad get some help. That help may not need to be a psychiatrist but a good counselor or a trusted friend. The problem that I have observed with psychiatrists is that they rely too much on medication and other treatments and not enough on actually allowing their patients to work out their own problems naturally by listening and guidance. I'm not saying there is not a place for meds but I think they are overused and have become a substitute for listening and helping people work out their issues. Good luck with the problems you are having and please try giving yourself respect and love for the good things you do, try to be kind to yourself and others in the midst of this depression. Things have a way of sorting themselves out given time and the right conditions.

I have studied anxiety for 20 years now and have so much knowledge on this disorder. First of all you have to realize having anxiety and or panic attacks is either from a chemical imbalance or the way you think. This is a question you may want to ask yourself before going to the psychiatrist.
Am I strong enough to get over this without help? If you are unsure here is what I would suggest.
Go to your local library or bookstore and buy books on this disorder my favorite is (Lucenda Bassett) and make this your daily routine of reading and doing as the books ask you. They will give you advise on how to overcome or I will say tolarate these symptoms.
It takes time and a lot of courage and if you can do this alone and I mean comment to this everyday like it is your Bible: You will start to see a different you. Yes, there will be days when you say no no no I am not going to walk outside or do whatever makes you anxious but "DO IT" because that is when you realize it really starts to become a "reality" that you can overcome this disorder or tolerate it enough to live normal.
I really hope this helps.

You can beat it with yourself (you have been there, done that) and also meet with a therapist (the right one you will conquer what you can and if needed a psychiatrist maybe necessary). Lets start with the therapist if you haven't already.

I would still go and to the appointment on Wednesday, although I would advise against taking any medication if they do prescribe any to you. The last thing you want is to be dependent on medication. Anxiety and Panic Attacks can be cured with many self help programs. Obviously a little commitment from you is required if any self help program is going to work. You may want to check out this great resource which promises to eliminate any anxiety or panic from your life. I have recommended this program to many people now and have only had very positive feedback. The program works.
