Can some one please help i am going crazy with my anxiety!?
ByMy doctor has prescribed me Valium recently for my sever anxiety which i just found out i have.He said the Valium is for a short term only, later he will prescribe me antidepressants (SSRIs) and he told me that they are not as strong as Valium but are used for long term.So i am really worried that they will not help because they are not as strong as Valium and this means the anxiety will not be stopped affectively.I am going crazy thinking that i wil be feeling horribly anxious again. Please help
Well, I definitely suggest you not just rely on medication only. There are alot of things you can do to help yourself. I would take the antidepressants along with therapy. That way, you can learn how to help combat your anxiety naturally and the meds will help with what you can’t control. Good luck!

Hey! I have been really like this before, the thing is sometimes anxiety is caused by depression, so as your mood improves you may also get some relief from the anxiety. I know what panic attacks feel like and life can get better , the other thing is you dont have to be taking one or the other , you can take antidepressents and valium, the doctor may just reduce the valium dose once the antidpressents start working. Hope you feel better real soon ps stretching can help with panic attacks

Paul, don’t worry about it, your doctor is a professional who knows EXACTLY what he is doing, if he says he thinks the SSRIs will work for you, he knows what he is talking about, have some faith in someone who has holds a position as one of the most highly trained members of society and just follow the course of treatment, before you know it, you’ll have overcome this problem.
As for feeling anxious about the treatment itself, that will almost definitely stop, that is what the treatment is for after all!
If you still feel bad and need some more advice, I suggest you make another appointment with your doctor and talk it over with him/her - whatever sounds good to you.

I suffer from clinical depression, and anxiety myself. I have never been prescribed valium, but have been on most of the SSRI’s since I was 14 (I take myself off them because I’m stupid). The Dr is right, and although the new anti depressants may take a couple of weeks to get to a productive level in your system I would go with what the dr says. After all he has the degree, and we go to see them for a reason. Good luck

i have seen this that patients first get thier drugs, the thing is you need to find out the underlining prob through therapy or nlp, cbt, mean time your homework is to come up with a distraction technique, playing tetris is mine in the office or counting to ten with two slow breath in through nose and through the mouth then two three ext. tap your shoulder sixty times, or download some meditation tracks for anxiety. things do get better.
