Posted by: | CommentsCan hormonal changes cause anxiety for a 46 year old woman?
Is there any over the counter medicine to take for it?
A big yes.
Hormones like estrogen and progesterone play a critical role in anxiety. Women are more than twice as likely as men to feel anxiety, especially during the hormonal ups and downs of PMS, perimenopause, and menopause. Anxiety is often the first sign of perimenopause. Many women experience rampant anxiety symptoms when they first wean off HRT.
Are there any Aurvedic remedies for panic attack?
Posted by: | CommentsI would like to know whether Ayurveda has any remewdy for panic attack. I shall be thankful for the name of the formulation and the manufacturer.
It is a difficult question. Ayurveda does not treat a condition but the patient. There are many methods of management or medicines for the same condition. There are number of details that one needs to know about the patient and health condition before prescribing medicine in Ayurveda. A good physician gives a tailor made advice. Though there are some general remedies which would work in everyone and may give temporary result, since your condition is of importance, I would strongly suggest that you consult a good Ayurvedic physician and get a detailed examination done about your constitution, health condition, its type, stage etc etc. If you let me know which place you are in I may be able to suggest a good physician's name.

Does anyone know of tips and techniques for dealing with a claustrophobic panic attack?
Posted by: | CommentsWhen I am in an elevator or closed space, I sometimes get a panic attack. I'll be completely fine on a plane and the suddenly i'll realize i'm trapped 10 thousand some-odd feet in the air and i'll get hot, and squirm. sometimes I hyperventiliate and think I'm choking, going to be sick or, think i cant breathe. Does anyone know of any tips to deal with this?
Dealing with Phobias are tricky. My suggestion is to take baby-steps, although that may be difficult if you travel by plane a lot. If you feel an onset of attack, try to blank your mind. Tell yourself that you are fine and those walls are NOT closing in on you. Emerse yourself into something you enjoy, such as reading or cross stitching to distract yourself from your feelings. Practice breathing, yoga style, long deep relaxing breaths.
I hope you find something that works for you!

How do you deal with anxiety?
Posted by: | CommentsI have had quite acute anxiety during the past two years. I am mainly afraid of vomitin and every night feel ill, as if i am going to vomit. This has prevented me from doing what i wish and as ruined many social activities because of the fear that i may catch a bug. I now rarely eat out unless i know the restaurant well. If anyone has tips to deal with this anxiety, please answer immediatly.
Anxiety disorders are a dominant and real medical concern. Wellbutrin is a good drug for controlling anxiety and panic attacks. The first thing you need to do is seek help through your Primary Care Provider or local Mental Health Center. I wish you the best as this is an extremely hard condition to control and live with.
